If you're looking to keep your nails healthy, you've come to the right place. So get the facts and get your nail issues sorted.
A candidal nail infection is an infection around the nail margin, also referred to as a chronic paronychia infection. It generally occurs in people whose hands are often wet (eg, dishwashers, bartenders, housekeepers etc). Candida is present. Chronic paronychia can be due to several different micro-organisms, including yeasts such as Candida.
The infection occurs gradually along the nail margin and can become painful, red and inflamed. It may start in one nail margin but can often spread to others. Each affected nail margin is swollen and lifted off the nail plate.
If you are experiencing any or all of these symptoms, then head down to your local pharmacy for help. Early treatment is important, as if left untreated a nail infection can spread to other nails and rarely disappear on their own.
