Thrush

When should I see a doctor?

Most of the time thrush is easily treated with one quick trip to the pharmacy. But sometimes it's best left to the experts.

Here's when you should make an appointment to see your doctor:

  • If you have thrush for the first time
  • If you have had three or more cases of thrush in the past six months
  • If you're pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you're under 18 years of age
  • If you have had an allergy to thrush treatments previously
  • If you have symptoms that last for more than three to four days after treatment
  • If you have vaginal or abdominal pain
  • If you have abnormal vaginal bleeding or an unpleasant smelling discharge
  • If you have any vaginal sores or blisters
