Why do women get Thrush?
We don't know why some women are prone to a thrush infection, but we do know that thrush is caused by a change in the pH balance of the vagina. This balance is linked to hormonal changes and that's why women who are pregnant, going through menopause or beginning their menstrual cycle are particularly susceptible. But the female body is complicated and other factors like diabetes, antibiotics, the contraceptive pill, steroids and a weak immune system can all make you more susceptible to a thrush infection.
